They sound rather similar, but I believe it's just a coincidence. It happens from time to time, like with Chrono Trigger's "Robo's Theme" compared to Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up," or for a more retro example: Ultima V: Warrior's of Destiny's "Amiga Theme" compared to Metallica's "One."
