When you hit something with a sword or a crossbow bolt, it gives you a message about how much damage you did to what critter at the top of the screen, but when you hit someone with a thrown weapon (softball, bolas, bomb, etc.), it doesn't show a message. You just get some floating numbers above the victim and that's it.
Also true of spellcasting. It might be a little trickier to implement, but it would be nice to know how much damage one's spells are doing without having to refer to a wiki.
