ZangbandTK style mutations

    For those of you who've not played ZangbandTK, the mutations are a list of permenant positive and negative buffs that can be applied randomly to a character when various things happen to it, from coming into contact with Toxic Waste to being hit by certain spells and so on. It's possibly one of my favorite aspects of Zangband. (over 20 dead Chaos Warrior Beastmen to my name ^_^ ) There were mutations ranging from basic stat buffs to summoning packs of dragons around you randomly.

    Anvils of Krong come close, but no cigar.

    Two ideas came to mind. A Mutation tree and just plain old mutations attacks/spells from monsters that have a small chance of mutating you. With, say, mutation cure potions that remove one random mutation.

    The expansion added some permanent buffs for when you [redacted] a diggle [redacted].

    But, let's be honest, +3 toxic damage when you wield your staff isn't particularly amazing.
