Switch shields with right click.

I don't know whether this should go in suggestions or bugs, but it would be nice if we could switch shields the way we can switch weapons, helms, etc. by right-clicking on a shield that we have in our inventory.

 

You can. It works.
Tomes don't count as shields for switching so if you have one in your hand (or are dual wielding shields) the system doesn't switch for you.

 

Well then they should be changed in that respect; they count as shields for everything else.

 

I wasn't aware there was an "everything else" for shields.Iirc, until recently, the game had no way to check if you were wielding one, and it still doesn't have any official content which cares.

 

They (tomes, orbs, etc.) are classified as shields in the game's item definition files.
