This might save people some confusion, at least in 50D. The stone ceramics kiln only makes bricks now, so you have to build a brick kiln with the ceramics workbench in order to make glass or bottles. I'm pretty sure this has to do with the upgrade system which is temporarily in flux, and will be made more clear soon.
